Readers, have you met Niki? She is the founder and creative director of Niki Jones and makes all these wonderful cushions, rugs and throws that you see around you today. After graduating from the Royal College of Art, Niki worked at Habitat where she was mentored by Tom Dixon and Georgina Godley before leaving to go to Wedgwood.

She set up on her own in 2009, and her pieces are now stocked in Le Bon Marche, in Paris, Lane Crawford in Hong Kong and Isetan, a Japanese department store.

Now, as you know I’m not usually one for florals but that black and white rug with the pink and purple flowers is just dreamy. It would look really stunning in the right space as it’s a perfect modern twist on a traditional idea.

Or these geometric patterns, a classic that always works.

Niki brings together diverse talents such as crewel embroidery from India, hand-knotted rugs from Nepal and soft knitted merino from Scotland to create her pieces. By using these traditional methods, she is keen to preserve these skills for another generation. These are definitely buy now love forever pieces. You can imagine handing them down to your children to put in their homes and they will still look as modern and fresh as they do now.
