Arne Jacobsen Series 7 Chairs

I am indebted to the team at Decorum Media for today’s post. Sometimes there is just so much stuff out there that it’s impossible to see everything and while we do all get the same press releases we do all strive to cover different things.

But, having said that, sometimes you see something that is just so perfect you have to run it too. And this is that. These chairs are just so perfect for the Mad House that I wanted you to see them.

The Series 7, by Arne Jacobsen, is a design classic that was designed 60 years ago – in 1955 for anyone who, like me, can’t do the maths. The Republic of Fritz Hansen, which holds the licence, has just produced these limited edition chairs in these fabulous shades of nude and deep dark navy.

Each one is numbered and they will be available from 1 February.

They will only be available for this year so you’ve got about 11-and-a-half months to make your mind up. Or, more realistically, to save up. Now there’s a whole lot of guff about them being masculine and feminine but I don’t really see all that. I just see two fabulous colour combinations.

The question is how would you mix them up? I’d have three blue and one pink. Or perhaps the other way round. Either way, the mix of colours should be two thirds, one third and not half and half.

And on that note I leave to your day. Himself is having a birthday so we are off to eat cake and blow candles and all that sort of thing. I shall see you tomorrow when, da da da, a new trend will be revealed. Remember the pineapples, well it’s the new version of those, coming soon to a house near you…

By the way, Decorum, a digital pr agency for interiors often run workshops on using social media and useful things like that so if you need any help with that sort of thing then get in touch with them.

  1. I love your blog and am always pinning your posts up on my Pinterest account.
I was lucky enough to purchase 6 of the beech version of these chairs from a second hand office supply shop in South East London. I paid £50 each for them! They were barely used and I was able to chose the best ones and the shop had about 8 more in stock, so I called a neighbour, who is also into design to let him know that they were available. However, he couldn’t buy them at the time. I should have bought the lot. They were obviously from some company or other who wanted rid of them. I remember the excited call to my hubby, ‘I’ve just seen these chairs…’ The guys from the shop obviously didn’t know how special they were as they gave me an invoice for ‘6 Pine Chairs.’
