Hello everyone, a slightly unusual post as I’m writing to tell you that as we will be revisiting posts during August, while the Mad Brain takes a break to recharge its batteries, you won’t be receiving your daily email updates. That’s due to a technical thingy wotsit that I can’t understand, much less do anything about, so I wanted to send you this to tell you that the blog is still here, and still functioning but that if you want to drop in you will have to manually dial it up rather than waiting for it to drop into your inbox. I do apologise if that’s massively inconvenient.

I have chosen the best of 2017 for the updates with lots of 10 bests and guest posts as well as my series on Five Ways to Revamp a Room. Some of you won’t have had time to read them the first time round and since they take quite a lot of time to write I thought there was nothing wrong with a quick update or a revisit. I imagine many of you will be away and won’t be visiting anyway so I hope you don’t mind.

The Madness will begin again in September and in the meantime I wish you all a lovely summer break and thank you all for your support and readership. I value each and everyone of you and do enjoy our daily conversations. Now don’t forget about The Mad House during August will you…. *wags finger*.

TTFN, bye for now, tararabit, ciao, aufwiedersehn, goodbye….

Just wanted to say ‘Happy Summer’; enjoy your well-deserved break. As a new-ish reader, I am looking forward to gems from the archive (much as I’d love to go back to the beginning and work my way through every post, it will have to be bit by bit). Your writing is fab, so it more than bears re-reading, which allows more of your expert advice to sink in. Thank you!

Have a good break Kate. Thanks for all your hard work in finding so much good stuff to show us throughout the year. And good luck with the GCSE results – been there, done that twice. Fingers crossed.
