It must be a sign of age that whereas I used to get excited by the new season clothes coming into the stores and enjoy walking past the autumnal window displays, I’m now much more likely get my thrills from new photography of interiors.
I mentioned yesterday the arrival of the new Ikea catalogue, of which I have been busy folding down corners and planning a store raid soon, and then I saw these gorgeous images from the new collection at Oka Direct.
Suddenly I’m ready to pack away the sandals (perhaps I mean hammock) and get ready for cosy evenings and candlelight. At this time of year the promise of cashmere throws and lighting the fire is always so much more alluring than the reality.
I enjoy it all up until Christmas, which bobs tantalisingly out of reach for weeks but keeps everyone going with its twinkly festive promise. I don’t mind the cold and rain of November when December is round the corner.
Of course then it’s bloody January again which is never good but hey, we don’t have to worry about that yet. In the meantime let’s think about hunkering down and enjoying our houses during the darker months ahead.
