Balloon Mirror

balloon mirror from skandivis.co.uk

Balloons are such joyful things aren’t they. And the perfect shape for a mirror. These are designed by Tor Servé and Nicole Vitner Servé from Copenhagen. You might have known they’d be Danish somehow. Perhaps it’s just the styling of the picture.

Anyway, they’re made from high quality glass with a small piece of oak at the bottom and a leather string hanging down. That’s the kind of detail that I love. And of course, they do look great together, or even as a group of three. The large one is 46cm by 36cm and the smaller is 36cm by 28cm so they are perfectly in proportion too.

If you have children then you could put two at different heights: one for adults one for smalls, or different heights, depending on the children, in a hall or landing.

The same design team has also come up with this, which they have called the ice cream mirror but should really be lollipop. Be that as it may, it’s perfect for the copper lovers among you. Be aware that it’s coloured glass at the top though and not actually a piece of copper.

This one measures 57cm high and has a wooden stick at the base. I love them both although I think you’d have to choose as it would be akin to telling the same joke twice if you bought each one.

They’re both available from Skandivis which has all sorts of lovely new things in stock so do go and have a browse if you’ve got five minutes. Toni always curates her collections really well and fans of Danish monochrome will love it all (she doesn’t pay me to say that by the way). As I have said before, but not for a while, the Objects of Design are all things I love and would have in my own home given an elastic budget and stretchy walls. Very occasionally I collaborate with a company on a post but only when I would have included them anyway, and I have a particularly pressing need for a new pair of shoes or a tax bill to pay and I will always tell you (whether it’s shoes or tax).

So now we’ve got that out of the way, you should also see this which I think is a great idea for wall storage. There is also a smaller one with days of the week, which is currently on sale for £25. The weekday one would be great for smaller children just learning to dress themselves for nursery or reception: you could put seven days of socks, pants and vests in there for them to find themselves quickly and easily.

Now, haven’t those jolly mirrors cheered you up? There just is something about a balloon that makes people happy *sits back and waits for 27 comments from balloonphobes*.
