Copper Bedstead

Just when I thought I was done with copper in favour of brass, I see this:

Isn’t that a beauty. It’s funny because we’re all so used to the brass bedstead look but I’m not sure I’ve ever even thought about a copper bed. And now it’s all I can think about. We have an black wrought iron bedstead that cost about £150 from Ikea. Actually it might even have been less as I think it was on sale at the time.

It has served us well that bed. I don’t really even see it these days. It has a great (new) mattress on it and some lovely white linen and that’s that. We had vaguely talked about getting a new bed one of these fine days but it was quite a long way down the list.

Until today. When it has pinged up to the top of the must-haves-right-nows. Particularly with a set of grey bedding on it. It’s called Alana, it’s from made.com and it costs £399 for a standard double and £449 for a kingsize.

The matching bedside table is £79 and is also gorgeous but I think I would put that elsewhere in the house for fear of having too much of a good thing (as it were) in one place. Better to mix it up with something different. The Penn bedside table (also £79) in dark ash will be a lovely warm contrast with the pinky shades of the copper and it’s got that clever little tray in the bottom for your watch, or your glasses, or a glass of water. And the rectangle shape works well with the shape of Alana’s headboard.

What do you think? Copper bedstead anyone?
