Galvanised Chamonix Spotlight

Chamonix Spotlight (high res)- CHSP01

At the risk of sounding a bit Henry Higgins; By George I’ve got it. At last. The lighting in our kitchen has been a vexed issue for some time. I really hate spotlights. They’re ugly and mostly in the wrong place. I’m constantly looking at pictures of sleek Danish kitchens and admiring the use of long arm wall lights and pendant lamps while knowing full well that that just won’t work in our space. Not least because we don’t have a particularly high ceiling in there.

Also, it has to be said, spotlights are the best form of task lighting for this room. We have spent the last few years looking at lights on wires and cables – old fashioned dust collectors –  pondering the wisdom of sticking pendant lights in anyway, wondering about fixing vintage incandescent bulbs on holders coming straight down from the ceiling (something I saw to great effect in Iceland but which seem to be available only with US fittings and generally complaining about the spotlights.

And then yesterday, I found these. My problems are over. This is the perfect mix of practical downlighter with a hint of an industrial feel. And look at my kitchen: I already have similar wall lights in the dining area, a tin ceiling and a stainless worktop. I can’t think how I didn’t find them before.

They’re available from the newly renamed House Junkie (formerly known as Uniche Interior Furnishings) cost £16.50 each and I need 10. Job done. I’ll show you the pictures when they’re in.

Have a lovely day. Now if only a Segway was as affordable.

  1. yay! thank you! i hate spots too, but love these. And we had just decided spots were the only viable option for new office/guest/snug room that husband it about to embark on in next couple of weeks.
