A Perfect Lampshade

I have realised I don’t often write about lampshades and that is because I own remarkably few of them. The ones I have all came attached to the stands they are on and nothing much has changed in that time. However, in my recent Five Ways to Revamp a Room series I remember saying (and if I didn’t I should have) that swapping a lampshade was a really quick and easy way to change and update a room.

If it’s a pendant light that you’re thinking off then go large. It’s much more of a statement. These gorgeous shades are from Graham and Green  and come in several sizes from 10inches to 18inches and in lots of colours, including a pale grey which I haven’t shown.

The gold interior adds a modern twist and will also create a lovely soft glow which will save you going to the trouble of replacing any existing bulbs with those expensive vintage LED filament bulbs which do last for ever, but when you’re shelling out 20 quid a time that feels like scant consolation. I know, I know it’s sensible but still.

As well as a lovely warm light, a golden glow is said to be very flattering to the skin. That’s why candlelight is so lovely. So there you go – updating a room and improving your complexion at the same time. What’s not to like?

  1. Lush Designs do some on trend lampshades, in a variety of designs and colours.
I should know as I have three and some of their cushions to match.
