It’s Tuesday so we must be in love with monochrome. Yes I know when am I ever not, but take a look at these gorgeous images showcasing a new collection of leather rugs from Woven Ground.

Each rug is cut by hand and then the pieces are carefully assembled to create these geometric patterns.

Prices start at £549 for the round one at 150cm in diameter and go up from there.

Leather is surprisingly practical when it comes to floors. It’s warm underfoot, you don’t slip and it looks better with age.

I went to a house the other day where the owner had used off cuts of leather as a stair runner – she said she just stretched them over and glued then down and it looked fantastic.

In fact, using off cuts she said it was a relatively affordable way to do a staircase, especially when you consider the price of some carpet.

These rugs would last for ever though. They’re made from Italian leather and stitched in India.

And, as you can see, you can brighten them up with all sorts of accent colours – especially copper – and to find out more about that you better come back tomorrow.

  1. I am holidaying in London ( I live in Sweden) and took your advice and went to Smug on the weekend. I bought a print – Christmas present. I loved the whole area. Thanks for the tip. Love these leather mats.

    1. Oh that’s so cool. I’m so glad you liked the shop. The leather rugs are Danish so you might find them in Sweden when you return home. Enjoy the rest of your holiday Sandra.

  2. Leather is my bag so this is really interesting to see, I used to do this with off-cuts to make funky leather jackets but may have a go at carpets – how thick is the leather in these rugs?
