Liberty Fabrics and Wallpapers

I have to say I have never really thought of myself as a Liberty kinda gal. I mean I adore the shop and the furniture department is one of my favourite places to browse about. Well, including the shoes and bags bit as well, if I’m honest. But the material? Well I’ve always thought it was a little too flowery for me.

But then I received these images and they were so lovely I’ve had to think again.

It’s all about how you use them. Of course, if you pair these fabrics and wallpapers with traditional furniture you will have a very traditional look. But these pictures have kept the surroundings quite simple, almost stark, and allowed the material to really stand out.

Now obviously they’re publicity shots and it’s all about the fabric, but even so. I particularly love these tow images (above and below) where everything is stripped right back and the chairs look amazing.

And despite myself there is something about this image below that I also love. Perhaps it’s the approach of winter. I’m not sure I would ever have the courage to do that in my own house but it’s a lovely image to look at.

Of course I will always return to monochrome and I do really rather love this. I’m looking for new paper for the bedroom, mainly because I want a navy blue wall in the adjoining bathroom so if this comes in navy blue, this may be the one that I want.

All these fabrics and papers are available from Liberty – best to go in person – it really is the one store that’s worth a real life visit.

  1. I love vintage design and lots of pattern, so Liberty prints ought to be a must for me, but often i’m left a little cold. However, I love the top two images you’ve chosen here. All the pictures and styling are great, but those two in particular make me want to introduce some of this pattern in my home. Lovely!

  2. These photos are so beautiful! I love this post–thank you! Do you know Sailor Rose in NY? She makes lovely clothes for women and girls from Liberty fabrics! I have a few of her special things and I adore them!
