Mad About … Chalet Chic

Winter is here, it’s snowing and the ski season is in full swing. Whether that is of interest to you or not, you can’t argue with the fact that those chalets know a thing or two about how to make a cosy spot away from the weather. But these days it’s not all orange pine and brown cushions you know. So, for that reason, this week, we are mostly mad about chalet chic.

Below is the Chalet Grand Corniche, Les Gets, France. In addition the designer furniture and luxury interior, there’s a slide from the fourth floor to the wine cellar. And the price? Well, darling, you know what they say: if you have to ask …

Or what about this; the Heinz Julen Loft, in Zermatt, Switzerland, is a Manhattan style loft with acres of glass, steel, textured concrete and wood.

But some designers are taking their chalets in a more minimal direction these days. This is the Chalet Beranger, St Martin de Belleville,  France, which was designed by Noé Duchaufour Lawrance,

Finally Chalet White Pearl in Val d’Isere, combines both the clean lines of the chalet above with the exposed woodwork of a more traditional chalet to achieve a totally modern, yet cosy look.

 GET THE LOOK

First stop is the shop Chalet Chic, which is run by Liz and Joanna, whose  inspiration comes from their extensive travels to some of the most beautiful alpine resorts, where they have been captivated by the imaginative use of natural products to create breathtaking contemporary interiors. Frustrated by the limited availability of similar  products in the UK, they decided to bring them here.
