Gorgeous inky indigo has been predicted as a key trend for 2013 by both Dulux and AkzoNobel’s Aesthetic Center, Colour Futures. The latter calls it a “striking statement colour associated with wisdom and honesty [which] enhances your home environment.”
Dulux’s Indigo Night is is their choice of this shade which suddenly feels like such a modern colour. See below for a link to the top trends for 2013.
Perfect contrasted with the white of a bathroom suite, warmer and slightly less stark than the dark charcoal greys which were so popular last year, indigo fits beautifully with coral and nude shades as well as stronger emerald greens.
Having painted my sitting room in charcoal and one wall of my bathroom in a deep dark purple, I find myself staring wistfully at these images of indigo and wondering …
It even works really well in a kitchen.
Or if that feels a little too much, how about this idea below, where just the shelves have been painted to give an accent. A sort of nod to fashion if you will, and let’s not forget, one that’s easy to change.
But if you don’t fancy painting a whole wall, then why not create an indigo accent with Mini Moderns Whitby wallpaper.
Or perhaps redoing the tiles in a kitchen or bathroom?

I agree indigo is the way to go having embraced donwpipe and loved it. Problem is there’s very few interesting blue hues out there which is why I’m developing my own range of dark squid ink blue black paint.
I find I’m now looking at the entire house wondering which wall is due for a touch of indigo. My downstairs loo is blackboard paint and the graffiti is fun but am wondering about the bathroom …
