Mad About … Manhattan Loft Harlequin London Trendsetter

Create a loft space they said. Preferably a Manhattan one. Put some cool things in it. A splash of seating, a dash of lighting. The odd accessory. You know the sort of thing they said.

So I did. And here it is. It’s part of the Harlequin London Trendsetter competition.

This is my Sunday morning loft. And obviously it would be right in the centre of Manhattan. And it would have those windows. And that polished concrete floor. And once you’ve got the basics, well then, you can start to have fun.

So I would definitely keep the industrial theme going with the lighting. This is the British Industrial Lighting by Revo from skinflintdesign

Then I would need to sit in my loft. I love the contrast of a soft blush pink with all those hard industrial fittings so I would curl up into this Snowdrop loveseat from sofa.com

Of course, this big old space would need a rug (or seven) to soften it off, so I would choose this fabulous vintage moroccan carpet from Madeline Weinrib. It’s a one of a kind which appeals to me.

Now the scene is set. I’m about ready for a coffee. Now if you live in a loft you sort of have to drink espresso. So I would need this twister espresso coffee maker designed by Nick Monro for La Cafetiere

And while I’m there, I’d probably want to nibble on a pastry or two, while I read my newspaper. So I would chose my crockery from the Artesano Original Range by Villeroy and Boch

But of course, I nearly forgot. I’ll need somewhere to rest my cup while I hold my paper or turn the pages of my book. This Dutch Industrial Side Table from Restoration Hardware is just the thing.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, the coffee’s getting cold and I really must finish reading this article.
