Mad About … Pink

Pink is the new black. Yes, I know you’ve heard it all before, but the magazines and catwalks are full of it. The Times magazine just published a spread of about four dozen pink coats. In fact there are so many pink coats about that I can’t imagine anyone will actually dare to buy one so great is the risk of bumping into a neighbour wearing exactly the same coat in the aisles of the supermarket.

And you can forget about wearing one on the school run. In the more fashionable parts of London, I imagine there will be a veritable sea of pink come October.

Far better, methinks, to get the trusty black coat cleaned and add a pink scarf to the arrangement. But you can show you are in the know by adding a splash of pink to your interiors.

I love pink. For me it’s all about the pale blush or nude shades but there will be plenty of you who will prefer a vibrant more neon version and they are all out there for the taking.

Pink contrasts beautifully with grey and warms up white. I’m not suggesting you splash it over all your walls, but use it on a single wall, or as an accessory. More of a knowing nod to the prevailing fashion if you like.

This passion for pink has already entered the world of paint with the new Nancy’s Blushes, one of only nine new colours launched by Farrow & Ball. An event that happens only once every three years. Nancy is added to their range of existing pinks including pink ground, calamine and setting plaster, all of which are just gorgeous.
