I do love a Wes Anderson film and while I haven’t seen this one yet I see no reason to assume that I won’t like it as much as the others.
There have been countless essays and blog posts written on Anderson’s work, ranging from how Star Wars would be if he filmed it (here), to his obsession with symmetry and his distinctive colour palette.
The director is renowned for his use of colour and he sticks rigidly to his favourites. It’s like a Farrow & Ball paint chart. You could basically walk into the shop and ask for it room by room or even character by character.
So, in honour of a great director with an even greater love of colour, here is the Mad homage to the Grand Budapest Hotel – ie some lovely pink stuff.
I adore these shades of pale pink, especially when roughed up with a little vintage metal or charcoal paint, which isn’t, admittedly, very Wes.
So for this post we’ll stick to the brief and think about it with soft mustardy yellows and greens as he would.
Have you ever thought of using a film as a basis for an interior decorating scheme? Let us know below.
This is just brilliant Kate – love this post!! We can offer up our Mogg Rooms cabinet that was inspired by the film ‘Being John Makovich’….

Guess you’d have to have seen the film to apreciate the connection (living inside someone elses head with lots of different compartments..!).
