Millennial Pink at La Redoute

Have you come across La Redoute? It’s one of the stores that, I think, has been a little bit in the background in this country. One of those not so secret secrets that fashiony people have when they find great clothes and don’t want to tell you where they are from. This French site is a similar except that it does homewares too. I have mentioned them in passing on these pages and recently they contacted me and asked me to share some my favourite pieces from the summer collection with you.

They include these elori printed chairs which come in pairs. As I have said before I love the idea of introducing pattern into the kitchen as there are often so many hard surfaces and and straight lines. These go perfectly in my house but if you wanted a different geometric pattern and in blue and yellow – with black legs instead of copper then there is that option.

I have a set of black chairs already so, if I were buying these – which I’m not  they’re on loan – I would definitely be able to mix them in with my existing chairs. Mismatching chairs has become a bit of cliche in recent years, but there are ways to do it that are a little more grown-up and if you can find a patterned chair then it will go with a set of plain ones perfectly. If that’s not an option then try and find some point of similarity – these are a classic shape for example, or make sure they are all rounded.

The next items that caught my eye were the grey dinner and dessert plates with a burgundy rim. I love the unusual shape of them, although I’m not sure I can get as many of these in the dishwasher as you would with flat ones. On another note, I know that many of you will be thinking – eeuuw grey plates – but it’s the same principle as grey walls. Things stand out against grey and look amazing.  I have put pudding and fruit on these, but they would look just as good with a helping of pasta or salad on.

The geometric serving plate is also very dramatic although that probably is better for cake. The 16yo thought it was Christmas when he came in from his maths GCSE to find a huge stack of meringues (that I don’t eat) in the kitchen yesterday. Talking of which has anyone ever come across anything as hungry as a 16-year-old boy doing GCSE’s?  I thought I was working from home but actually I am either cooking from home or nailing food to the fridge so I can stop him eating lunch for elevenses and our dinner for lunch.

Uzzeni wine goblets

Finally, these wine goblets are fun for a summer table. I have pinched a trick from the aforementioned 16yo for a refreshing drink, which is to stick a handful of frozen berries in the glass and top up with fizzy water. Looks pretty and tastes good too. Actually that’s his version – personally I think it works just as well with vodka and tonic. Or even Prosecco.

And on that cheering note I leave you with a shot of the chair’s rather fetching copper legs as photobombed by Enid Cat who can never resist the sound of a camera shutter. Show her a phone and she’s off but the click of a camera and she’s in.

You can browse the summer collection at La Redoute here. Obviously, as you can tell, this post was written in collaboration with them but as I have featured them before and like them, it felt like a natural thing to do.

  1. Lovely chairs! Just a bit expensive for what they are. JL has the same in white at a fraction of the price !

  2. I like the La Redoute plates. I have been looking at our plain white Ikea 365 range plates for a while and thinking we could do with something a bit more snazzy – you have hit the nail on the head. Thanks.

  3. I love la redoute homewares! Particuarly the ‘am.pm.’ range. They regularly have sales with offers such as 40% off everything and there are often voucher codes to be found online. I coincidentally happen to have ordered two cushion covers from there this morning, as well as two wall brackets. I have been searching everywhere for some simple silver metal brackets but never found anything that wasn’t overly flowery and garden looking or the wrong colour. My idea is to hang a basket with trailing plants in, but I dislike those macrame holders that are everywhere and wanted something more minimal and contemporary. I will hopefully buy a handmade ceramic holder from etsy and then hang it from these brackets. https://www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350042395.aspx#searchkeyword=Wall%20brackets
My linen bedding also came from la redoute and I am so pleased with the quality. It’s one of the first places I look because I know the quality is good and the prices are low.

  4. @Stephanie Heath: the pink trailing plant is amaranth, also known as ‘love lies bleeding’.

  5. I’m familiar with the La Redoute items you have featured here and they look really good in your house – love that table – but I need to comment on your flower arrangement, which is gorgeous! What is the pink trailing plant?

    1. That’s a very old rug that we picked up from a shop in Kentish town. It’s full of holes and the owner wasn’t sure if he should repair it or bin it! We took it off his hands for a very good price.
