Objects Of Design #113: Stacked Shelf System

Shelves made to suit you not the other way round

The problem with shelving is that it doesn’t matter how carefully you plan it, you will never be able to fit everything. I’m not talking about space but about the objects themselves. Either you make them tall enough for the large books and then there’s masses of space waiting to be filled with dust, or you make them small enough for most things and have to look elsewhere when it comes to the larger stuff. Finnish firm Muuto has come up with a suggestion. These simple shapes come in three sizes and clip together. You just add and rearrange as you go along. Seemples.
