Objects of Design #315: Ikea Home Office

Right then, we’re back down to earth today. After indulging ourselves on all that rich leather and brass yesterday, we’re going back to affordable basics with a little trip round our favourite Swedish superstore today.

This is the perfect way to get your home office in order and you can probably do the whole thing for under £100 – depending on how many shelves you buy. These white ones are made from powder coated steel, which is just my new favourite thing as it looks expensive and is easy to clean. And I love the idea of an all white space with just a few well-chosen accessories for colour.

In addition to the shelves, there is also this range called kvissle. You might not want to have all of it but a few pieces will certainly do the job. I rather like the desk tidy below which costs a whole £7. I know!

it’s also made from steel with a cork base.

And you could finish off with these wooden bookends.

  1. Happy New Year. Love these items, all of them, great prices too. I’ve never noticed the minimoderns backdrop before, it looks great.
