As you know I love a twist on the traditional, and this classic blue and white crockery is just that. It’s by Flux, a ceramic design firm set up at Staffordshire University in 2010. Professor David Sanderson, who is course director in Staffordshire University’s Faculty of Arts, Media and Design, set up the venture between the students and the local ceramics industry.

It was launched at Maison et Objet, in Paris, in 2011 and they have been designing, and selling successfully, ever since. The projects gives the students a chance to try out their designs and also aims to employ some of them after they finish their degrees thus keeping the talent in the region.

the designs are traditional yet modern

The pieces, were are in the traditional blue and white with either a gold or platinum detail, are quintessentially English but with a twist.

Flux has even involved students in the graphic design and brand management departments to come up with the packaging. The collection is vast, do go and have a browse about. I’ve highlighted the links so it’s easy to get there.
