Those of you who have been paying attention (sit up at the back) will remember the clever Royal VKB serving tray from a couple of days ago which was designed by Gijs Bakker, the co-founder of Droog Design.

Well now we’re taking a closer look at Droog in the form of these  ceramic pots and pans which can be used for cooking and then taken straight to the table for serving. The handle and wooden lid/trivet are sold separately.

For me, this set, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni, sums up the ethos of Droog – clever and practical designs with a touch of wit. The pans are made from aluminium coated with white enamel on the outside and matching white ceramic inside making them safe for the hob and oven as well as non-stick.

These are definitely going on my wish list.

This time last year the kitchen essential was an electric hand mixer
