Objects of Design #102: French Oak Wine Rack

There’s nothing like a little drop of sun to make one feel like a little drop of something chilled and these old French champagne racks are perfect for storing the bottle as they wait their turn in the fridge.

I’ve wanted one in my kitchen for ages but it’s a question of freeing up a bit of wall which I haven’t quite managed to do yet. They were originally used to store champagne during the production process and the bottles were turned once a day.

This rack will hold 54 bottles, but the vendor, Lisa Brass, of Design Vintage says she is more than happy to cut it down if that’s too big and adds that cutting from the bottom has no detrimental effect.

Lisa’s lovely online store is a real mix of vintage, retro and industrial style with a sprinkling of Scandinavian influence. Perfect.

I also love these glass boxes.

There’s also a real shop to browse around so if you’re ever in Brighton, drop by. It’s on the corner of Lowther and Osborne Road in the Fiveways  although it’s  closed on Tuesdays and Sundays.

If you are trying to source a particular item then do get in touch with Lisa as she is more than happy to look out for specific products.
