Objects of Design #112: Anthropologie Serving Dishes

If there’s one thing I constantly think my kitchen is missing, it’s beautiful serving dishes. We tend to the all white school of crockery, which looks great on the open shelves (newly painted dark grey) but I do think it looks a bit dull when guests come round and you lay out a few snacks, nibbles, things to go with the aperitivi (call it what you will) and it’s all on plain white dishes.

I’m sure some of you will prefer that minimal look, but this is the one place when I long for a beautiful collection of mismatched dishes that look as if they came from the back of your Granny’s cupboard.

Imagine these filled with a selection of olives – green and black, white anchovies, salted almonds and anything else you care to add.

In the meantime I’m off to anthropologie for a bit of a browse. Prices from £22.

  1. Love em! But then I do have a particular dislike for white plates and bowls (yawn….) I’m not a chef so I don’t artfully position my food – I’m not looking for a blank canvas! I love patterns and I’ve been slowly collecting those Nathalie Lete plates from Anthropologie too : ) errrr…… *coughs*…… a present to myself?

  2. Just gorgeous, my other half’s Mum has a lovely display of patterned plates in her kitchen and they look amazing!
