This is brilliant. You always need extra chairs and while I’m not averse to the Shaker idea of hanging them on wooden pegs when everyone has finished eating so there’s more space around the table, that does inevitably lead to banged heads as people have to squeeze past and under.

So, if your rooms are not big enough for a crowd of hanging chairs, this is the perfect solution. It hangs flat on the wall and then you take it down and it folds, magically, into a chair. Finishing eating? Simply pick it up and hang it back on the wall again. If you want to see this in action, click the top picture and scroll for the video.

Designed by Dror Benshetrit, it is, sadly, out of most of our price ranges at over $1,000, but today that’s not the point. Today it’s about showing you a fabulous piece of furniture.

You can also fold the back down flat so that it turns into a small cube table, which can be just as useful as a folding chair.
