Objects of Design #156: French Folding Mirror

If ever there was a room where form and function need to be perfectly aligned it’s the bathroom. The mirror is often an afterthought, something large enough, possibly with the addition of an anti-fog mechanism is often as far as we get, but this rather pretty mirror has a shelf at the bottom, which is so practical.

I bought a very simple plain mirror and fixed a shelf underneath it, but this would have saved that job and, with its chain fixing, is rather more decorative than mine. It would also be perfect in a downstairs loo where space is so often tight and there isn’t room for extra shelves or places to put the soap.

It’s from Cox and Cox and costs £75.
