I do love a wooden ruler and a giant one is even better. These, made from oak, washed white or solid aged oak, are actually height charts.

You can choose to have either metric and imperial measurements, or pick one and use the other side to add your names.

choose between two measurements or adding a name

I would definitely go for both metric and imperial as a) I have no idea how tall I am in centimetres and b) I’m a little over this mania for personalising everything. Although, as the makers point out, it’s probably best to add the family name rather than the first name as it makes it hard to move into another child’s room when one grows out of it. By which I mean agewise not heightwise as it goes to over 6ft.

Although having said that, I would quite happily have this in a hall and not just in a child’s bedroom or playroom.

What do you think?

It’s available from notonthehighstreet.com for £95 or £265 for the solid oak version.
