Objects of Design #199: Drawlamp

draw your own lamp
draw your own lamp

This is one of those things that does exactly what the name implies except that you can’t imagine what that would be until you see it. Are you with me? No, thought not.

the ceramic bedside lamp is perfect for notes

It’s a simple ceramic board with a space for a bulb (the more decorative the better) and a natty red flex and you can decorate it how you like.

perfect for late night reminders

Now, aside from the obvious idea of drawing your own light fittings, it would also be fantastically useful for those middle of the night panics when you suddenly remember something you have to do but you haven’t got anywhere to write it down, which is what happens to me all the time.

when inspiration strikes

Or just for being romantic.

or more likely reminding someone to pay the papers

I might buy one for number 2 son and it would read like this:

Get dressed

Clean your teeth

Open the curtains

Turn the light out

I said clean your teeth

Put your laundry in the laundry basket

No, really, clean your teeth

draw-lamp

And he would rub all that out and draw me a monster. And he still wouldn’t have cleaned his teeth.
