Objects of Design #2: Kintsugi DIY Repair Kit

no more broken plates with this gold glue

Every now and then the design shopper (that being me) comes across something so clever it’s surprising that no-one thought of it before. And that, my friends, is this; gold glue.

Kintsugi translates as “golden joinery” and this nifty little repair kit comes from the Netherlands (home of ceramic delftware) and means that if (or is that when) you drop that beloved plate or mug you can not only mend it but you can even enhance it with this gold filler.

After using you must wait 48 hours for the adhesive to set and your piece is ready to use again, more gorgeous than ever. The glue is non-toxic, so it’s safe to eat or drink from although in order to  retain the gold colour it’s probably best to steer clear of the dishwasher.

It’s made by sisters Gieke and Lotte and Mora Approved is the only British retailer so get yours in now. Read about their inspiration here
