Objects of Design #204: Plexi Glass Display Boxes

not just for kids
not just for kids

Clever idea this. And not just for the playroom. Children are always making and drawing new things and it becomes increasingly difficult to find ways of showing you care and, er, not shoving them in a cupboard (or the recycling box … yes you have).

These boxes, for that is basically all they are, have a plexiglass front which means that, crucially, the dust won’t get in. Or the cat. And they can rearrange their displays to their hearts’ content.

In our house that would have involved one full of Lego minifigures and buildings and one full of feathers, bits of string, twigs and pine cones. Oh and this summer’s dead crab find.

The front just slides on and off so it’s easy for them to do. But, why restrict it to the kids? There has been a mini mania for displaying things under glass domes in recent years so why not take it to the wall? As it were.

If you click the images, you can go straight to the site to buy these. I found them at miniobjectsofdesire.com where I had a very happy browse. The site, otherwise known as Mood, specialises in contemporary children’s furniture and there’s some wonderful stuff.
