Just look at these. I mean phwoar. I love these lights. They’re part of the new collection at Anthropologie and I like them so much that a) I can’t choose my favourite and b) I would consider re-installing the overhead light in the sitting room for these.

Very often you find a light that looks great during the day (when it’s not on) but somehow loses something at night. Or the other way round; lamps that give off a really pretty light in the evening can look a bit, well, meh, during the day. Not this though.

Designed by Robert Ogden, an artist and antiques collector from Philadelphia, the lights can also take a 100 watt bulb which is good to know. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve fallen in love with a pretty shade or lamp only to discover that it won’t take more than a 40W bulb. This was particularly vexing in the case of a desk lamp bought for number one son a couple of years back as the dim light made it completely useless as the task light it was intended to be.

So these score on both fronts. Pretty and practical. I want all three, how about you?

Prices start at £108.

  1. I totally agree with the 40w problem. So frustrating to think you have found the light only to realize you will still be sitting in darkness.

  2. Wow, these are fabulous, been looking for something for my front room for 2 years, I think my search is over. Do let us know if you do get one and show us how it looks. Wonder if they’re in store yet.
