Can you guess? No, they’re not wooden. Nor metal. Copper? Nice guess. Wrong. Give up? Well it’s old cardboard boxes. Aren’t they pretty?

And if you buy one. It will come to you in a cardboard box which you can return to them to be made into another lampshade.

Moon is made by Seattle-based company Gray Pants, which consists of Seth, Jon and Alan, who say they were originally inspired by Jupiter and her moons. Who can name all four moons then?*

The smallest light is 10 inches rising to 18 for the biggest. And, before someone pops up talking about fire hazards and the like, it’s worth pointing out that all the lights are treated with fire retardant and meet numerous industry standards. They will even send you a certificate if you wish.

I love the shadows they cast on the wall when switched on and they are still beautifully sculptural during the day.

The 14 inch version is available from rockettstgeorge and costs £249. Which may sound like a lot for a rescued cardboard box (yes I know what some of you are thinking) but a lot of work has gone into them as they are all handmade.
