Objects Of Design #316: Pop Up Knife Block

press it to pop up the knife block

How I wish I had known about this when I was doing my kitchen. I hate keeping sharp knives in the drawer and I hate cluttering the worktop with a knife block even more. This is simply a box that slides into a gap behind the cabinet and is flush with the surface. When you need a knife, simply press the top and the box slides up with all the knives ready for use. Neat isn’t it? You can have the top made to match your worktop so that it’s almost invisible.

For the safety conscious among you, you have to then lift the lid to get the knives out so children can’t simply grab a knife straight, which they can do from drawer and knife block anyway.

Domestic Detox. Done.
