Feast yer eyes on that then! So firstly, what could be better for creating that cosy feeling and keeping the winter out than cake? Secondly, this will also work for cheese, which, with a little glass of something red, is also a wonderful treat. But thirdly, and therefore most importantly, it is my birthday. So we should eat cake. And this looks like a good one. Although in this house there probably wouldn’t be much need for the stand as there is a real risk that it would all be eaten in one go.
Enjoy! And may all your days be filled with wine and cake. And also thank you, all of you, for reading this blog, which started just about one year ago too (the beginning of February 2012). It has been lovely having your company and comments and I hope we can all spend another year together.

A belated Happy Birthday, I hope you enjoyed large slices of rich creamy cake.
I can’t bake cakes at all, or biscuits for that matter. So much as I love that cake stand it would sit looking empty, waiting for a dinner party when I could fill it with cheese. But that got me thinking about what else I could put in it, and the latest craze for veggies. The cake/cheese dome could be a centre piece to exhibit my unusual veg, thus leveraging them to a status of importance and maybe even desire?! I’m thinking pointy cauliflower (Romanesco) purple carrots, yellow tomatoes and candy-striped beetroot… ok so not as tempting as cake but a beautiful talking point none-the-less.
A very happy birthday to you and to your blog. Keep them coming (the blogs that is:-)
