Objects of Design #67: Morso Outdoor Oven

When the weather finally comes good (cross your fingers) it’s great to fire up the barbecue and invite a few friends round to sit in the garden, but sometimes it would be good to have a change from all that chargrilled meat and salad. And I don’t know about you, but I always feel that vegetarians have a tough time of it with endless plates of grilled peppers and haloumi  – although by all means feel free to correct me. Perhaps you could suggest some great vegetarian barbecue ideas in the comments below.

Anyway, to today’s Object of Design, which is this cast iron outdoor oven which will allow you to whip up pizzas and even bread. Internally, the oven is shaped like an Italian stone oven with a wide firebox that produces radiant heat and has plenty of space for the firewood to be pushed aside when it’s time to cook.

There is also a so-called Tuscan Grill you can buy for it, which will cook steak and vegetables (meaning you won’t need a barbecue at all).

And, as a little treat, here’s a video of someone making pizza in one of these to inspire you. Although he’s not speaking English (I’m fairly certain it’s Danish) so you might want to make it a feast for the eyes only! Click here
