Objects of Design #93: Bakers Shelves

Bakers Shelves from Uniche Interior Furnishings
Bakers Shelves from Uniche Interior Furnishings

In my alternative world – the one through the looking glass if you like – where everything is opposite and contrariwise, I wouldn’t have a fitted kitchen.

I would, of course, be living in some crumbling (I mean that in an attractive rustic plaster kind of way, not a subsidence way) Venetian Palazzo with ceilings that were about 15ft high where the kitchen would be created around a series of non-fitted units salvaged from various places and arranged around the room under a fabulous crystal chandelier …

In the meantime, these shelves are a great way to bring a teeny bit of that look into a more modern (and presumably smaller) kitchen. I love freestanding shelves and you can constantly change the look of these by rearranging the contents  which, I think you’ll agree, is the perfect rainy day/work displacement activity.

Now, for the science bit: the measurements: 150cm high by 90cm wide and 40cm deep. Hope that works for you.
