Objects Of Design #310: Vintage Wooden Lockers

vintage wooden lockers are perfect for storage

I just love this vintage set of wooden lockers. At just 30cm deep, it will probably fit into most hallways or would make perfect bedroom storage. In the hall you could give each person a row- down or across – shoes in the bottom, schoolbags in the middle and gloves, hats, phones and keys in the top. Imagine having all that rubbish cleared away and let’s not forget the hall is the first thing you see when you come into a house or flat. Or in a bedroom – socks in one, t-shirts in another and so on. This is a vintage so there’s only one and I might just buy it myself, but it’s worth keeping an eye out for a similar sort of piece.

This one has the original Bakelite handles and tags too. But if you’re careful there’s nothing to stop you painting round those in a colour that suits your surroundings.

  1. This picture reminded me of the locker allocated to me at my boarding school in the late 60’s! Complete with an identical plate saying No35 on, matching a hook in the boot room! We were not allowed to keep fish paste in these lockers or pet food – for which there were other lockers in the Pet Shed! I will not be buying these! Happy New Year Kate and thanks for all your inspiration and help last year!
