Pendant Light

Now I wouldn’t normally feature a light like this but a) the image is so beautiful I can’t stop looking at it and b) I actually think it would look amazing in a minimalist monochrome space. It’s made entirely by hand and comes in a standard paint finish of Bitter Chocolate, or you can choose from 84 other colours by Marston & Langinger.

Having chosen the colour, you can then choose to either leave the candle bulbs bare or add shades in your choice of material. This one pictured is finished in Grey Green with Liberty Tana Lawn shades. If you’re going to have a more traditional shaped light like this then you’ve got to vamp it up with something unexpected. So you could paint the frame in peacock blue and add gold lamps, or vatican red with graphite shades or as they have done here. But if you choose a very pretty material for the shades you need to keep the rest of the room quite strong with clean lines and no more pattern. That way the shade – which costs just under £2,000 without the shades, will make a real statement.

But, as someone once said to me, pendant lights are like the earrings on an outfit.  They make all the difference to an LBD and if this is your show-stopping piece then make sure it really does stop that show!

It’s from David Hunt Lighting by the way. And if this is still too ornate for you then feast your eyes on this gorgeous reclamation pendant which is £180.
