Persian Wallpapers by Mineheart

Those of you familiar with my house will have spotted that I have several Persian rugs dotted around my sitting room and under the kitchen table. Mine is a motley collection. Some I have borrowed (all right nicked) rom elderly relatives and some we have actually bought and paid for.

We were lucky with the one under the table as it had a massive hole in it and the vendor had just taken delivery of it. He was unsure whether to repair it (and sell it for hundreds as it’s so large) or just dump it in the back room and forget about it as not worth the aggro.

We happily relieved him of it for a small sum of money and the hole sits neatly under the table where no-one notices it.

The other great thing about a Persian rug is that they are supremely practical. Especially for the black coffee and red wine drinker. Those stains just don’t seem to show. Mind you they were pretty efficient through the baby years of milk and weetabix too, come to think of it.

Now, clearly I’m not suggesting that you, as civilised readers of this blog, are given to hurling wine and coffee at the walls, but I was just pointing out the practical side of things. They are, above all else, very beautiful and soften a stark Scandinavian, modernist, minimalist interior a treat. Especially when they are a little faded.

And now Mineheart, one of my favourite wallpaper designers, has come up Persian wallpaper. Brilliant. It was, as they said, inspired by the silk weaving of the original Oriental rugs and costs £126 a roll. I really like the dark version with the pale sofa but you might prefer something a little less dramatic. I fancy it in a library with a roaring fire and a glass of red wine.

What do you think?
