Printed Plywood Furniture

For those of you who were here yesterday we were discussing the joys of pattern. The feeling of having something in your home that isn’t just entirely practical but is, in fact, a little bit of a treat because it isn’t entirely practical, you don’t want your toddler to sit on it but, hell it makes your heart sing just to see it in the corner. That sort of thing. Which was, if I’m entirely honest (which I usually am ) a long winded way of trying to justify the purchase of a pale pink and gold armchair. I know. Go and see if you don’t believe me.

Anyway, we’re still on pattern today but this time it’s practical, and a bit clever. These tables are made from birch plywood but in addition to the rather fabulously coloured hairpin legs, they have a pattern digitally printed on top. They’re rather fabulous aren’t they?

They launched just this month as a collaboration between Studio Flock (you’ll have seen their cocktail chairs) and design surface studio Metier. You can choose from the three designs, which are Flock fabric designs, and the legs come in either orange, white or grey. I fancy the black and white diamond top with the orange legs.

The other point is that while I am not normally an advocate of everything matching, I am a fan of the unexpected and the idea of a chair that matches the coffee table is rather appealing. So I would have the Aldgate east table (black and white in the image below) with the matching chair. Gonna need to build an extension to put them in mind…
