We’ll go gently into Friday with a soothing palette of blush, black and natural wood. This three bedroom flat in New Cross, south- east London, is on the market with The Modern House for £675,000. It’s so restful isn’t it, you can’t imagine ever having a row about whose turn it was to empty the dishwasher in these surroundings.

Although I might have to start a small dispute about that tiny island rug floating in the middle of the floor…. Still, leaving that aside, this development, by designers Chan and Eayrs consists of two bespoke loft apartments and two B1 work studios.

Each apartment has been decorated with natural colours and materials, and lime-washed oak floors. The kitchens are by British Standard (sister company to Plain English), the bathrooms have honed-marble tiles and the walls and windows are painted in Farrow & Ball and Little Green colours. There is underfloor heating throughout.

Accommodation is on one floor, with a large kitchen / dining / living space, a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, two further bedrooms and a main bathroom. The master bedroom has access to an internal balcony that looks out over the communal entrance area.

Finally, you know when architects and interior designers spraff on about angles and lines and (probably) integrity and all that. This picture below is what they mean. It’s a gorgeous picture. I think it might be more about the colour combinations than the angles for me but it’s a great picture all the same.

So, where shall we go next? We shall Go West (life is peaceful there).. to Notting Hill to be precise although I’m not entirely sure that’s quite what the Pet Shop Boys had in mind but still, that’s where you need to go to find this three bedroom maisonette, which is on the market with Domus Nova for £2,450,000.

This place looks like a proper home and not just a series of rooms that have been staged for the camera. I love the Deborah Bowness bookshelf wallpaper – the fact that the books are all higgledipiggledy is perfect and much like my own bookshelves. It adds a relaxed air to the space and I would definitely like to be sitting in one of those mid century armchairs looking at it.

Creating a blackboard wall may have gone out of fashion in recent years but it’s still a pretty useful thing to have and I love that this one is clearly a much-used part of life in this house. I also like those leather chairs round the table too.

Finally, the sitting room, which has a cosy feel to it as well. This may be financially out of reach but the look and feel is something easily brought into our own homes: natural materials, quirky touches and lots of vintage. Let’s not go west people, let’s go ebay….
