Maybe it’s the effect of being bedridden for a week but there is something enormously appealing about this all white open plan converted warehouse that is this week’s Househunter property. It’s on the market for £1,470,00 via The Modern House and is located near Liverpool Street, Spitalfields and The City.
Currently configured as two bedrooms, a study, a dining room, a large reception room and kitchen, the space is basically open plan but has been cleverly zoned to create the different areas. I could just so happily spend all day lying on one of these sofas staring at the wall of books and occasionally flicking through one. Mind you the thought of the inevitable cup of coffee near said sofa is adding a certain nuance of stress to my fantasy.
The apartment belongs to a professor of art who has modernised the space but kept the original features such as exposed brick walls, gorgeous windows and iron columns. The dining room is on a slightly raised platform to create a little separation from the rest of the open-plan space and there are lots of rugs which also work to divide up the area. Mind you I would go bigger with the one under the sofas.
That wall of books also works to create separation between the main living space this gorgeous little study. I’d love to work here too. If we’re going to be practical – and occasionally we must – I should point out that there is an annual service charge of £3,400 and that the current owner rents a large store cupboard on communal landing outside the door which is either a sign that there isn’t quite enough in the flat or that you might need to pay even more to live here than the asking price – as it were.
Still, never mind that. Perhaps I shall just rent it for my convalescence. Who’s with me?
Damn! Love all of the light in this flat.
It’s gorgeous, we can all dream.
Love it, but most of all I love the study, that would work perfectly for me! Hope you are feeling much better x
