Off to west London this week to look at a two bedroom flat in an art deco property in Notting Hill.
This two bedroom apartment is on the market with Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward (via Rightmove) for £850,000.
It is, let’s be honest, a slightly odd shape with the kitchen at the back forming, if you like, the short line of the L and the living space the longer part.
The two bedrooms are off to the sides and to access the bathroom from either, you would have to go through/across the sitting room. Which could work for couples and single dwellers but less so for flatmates who might not all want to socialise at the same time.
It’s a great building though and it has a private patio garden and a new kitchen.
Next up, Highgate and there have been a few flats for sale in this iconic Bernard Lubetkin building, Highpoint, recently.
This one has three double bedrooms and is on the second floor at the back with great views.
Recently restored, this too has a new kitchen and is on the market for £1,150,000 via The Modern House, who say it’s of the best apartments in the building.
The Modern House do point out that it’s not currently furnished like this though, so make sure you’re falling in love with the body and not the outfit as it were.
By the way, there’s also a swimming pool on the roof.
Finally, we’ve had a peek at Coco Chanel’s House and now it’s time to see the former Paris apartment of Bridget Bardot. Kiss goodbye to the restrained minimalism of the top two places people because we are going Ovah the Top.
See what I mean? It’s on the market with Luxury Estate for around £5.1m.
There are ten rooms, of which only three are bedrooms and there are also three bathrooms.
The first floor has the living space, bedrooms and access to a pretty garden – a real bonus in Paris.
Downstairs, there’s an office, a billiards room, and a “disco”, both of which probably saw quite a lot of action during Bardot’s occupancy as she lived there with her third husband Gunter Sachs. While she is an actress, he is usually described simply as Playboy.
Mind you, they both had plenty of affairs during their three year marriage; Bardot most famously with Serge Gainsbourg. In fact, she recorded the first version of Je T’aime Moi Non Plus with him, but Sachs was apparently so furious about the heavy breathing that it was never released and Gainsbourg eventually re-recorded it with Jane Birkin.
So who’s moving where this week? I think, despite my love of Paris that I’m probably off to Highgate.
