Two Seat Velvet Sofa

Sometimes you just see something and you know. You just know that it’s the perfect thing and it needs to be in your life. Or at the very least in your house. It can happen with a pair of shoes or a dress. It can happen with a rug or a piece of furniture. It happened to me with this sofa. I ADORE this sofa. I could base an entire room scheme around this sofa.

And the thing that proves that love is chemistry and all about the heart not the head is that there is nothing blue in my house. There is nothing mid-century in my house. There is, in short, nothing in my house that would go with this blue velvet and linen sofa. And yet… and yet I want it. I want to look at that sumptuous colour combination.

I want to run my hands over that scalloping at the back and admire the shapely curves of its arms. It’s not very big – 148cm long – so it’s not going to be the main sofa in a room. But it would sit in a bay window very happily. It’s the second sofa, the extra seating in the room. Which also means you get to sit on the other one and admire it.

The other one could be natural linen with blue cushions to mix it up a bit. If you’ve got a space for this that doesn’t involve redecorating your entire house then it costs £599 from Atkin and Thyme. As for me, I’ll just make do with the photographs. Unless you’re one of my clients. In which case you might find this in your lookbook.

And if you haven’t got space for a sofa, then there is a similar version in armchair form. I know, I’m a terrible temptress. This is the wow piece of the room though. And every room needs at least one showstopper.

  1. Oh you are right! I just fell in love with it too!
I love the colors, the shape, the texture… Too bad they don’t deliver abroad!
Maybe it’s better this way, I already feel like my living room has too many options were to sit!
