Wooden Tray

Now I don’t know about you but whenever I watch a cookery programme, which is quite often, I spend as much time looking at the choice of serving dishes as I do the food. Both Nigella and Jamie seem to have an endless supply of cool dishes and charming boards which make even the most humble of dishes look appetising.

It’s a bit like wrapping presents isn’t it? Even if the object inside is a bit humdrum, the mere fact of covering it in pretty paper and adding a bow makes it all that more exciting. You know that old saying; never judge a book by its cover? Well I do. All the time. Sorry. And it’s the same with food. Even a dish of peanuts will look better in a nice dish.

So when I saw this board, I was instantly attracted. If I wasn’t busy working out how many of yesterday’s copper glasses I need, I would have bought this instantly. I will probably have to have this to carry those glasses on. It would certainly look great with a few slices of salami, some olives and a few cubes of cheese wouldn’t it?

The other great thing is that it’s 46cm in diameter which is a really good size. And it’s £45 from Cox and Cox. I want one. What about you?

  1. i was working in the garden at the weekend and moving things around (basically when i’ve exhausted moving things around in the house i start in the garden…) and i have a small fire pit that was just lurking around but i’ve decided to bring it back to view so that it encourages us to use it more and i said to my husband….i need something round to put over the top of it so that the fire pit can double up as a small table…. i was thinking an old round tin tray or something but maybe a wooden tray… perhaps this is a bit too ‘special’ for it but maybe with some ‘outdoor oil treatment’ it would be protected?……….
