New Shop Discovery: Woven

I do love a virtual wander around a new shop. Especially when it’s blowing a gale and pouring with rain outside and there’s coffee and a comfy chair inside. I was even more delighted to be approached by this new store Woven and asked to do a couple of those “get the look” moodboards.

Recreating a look is one of the key features of my interior styling business madaboutyourhouse.com and I’m often asked for advice on where to find certain pieces or how to style a room to look like something a client has found on Pinterest.

So here are my results. I was looking through the collections at Woven, which currently sells lots of, actually really great, rugs and an ever-expanding range of homewares and decided that this gorgeous picture below, in on trend blush pink, would be a perfect board to begin with.

Pale pink is a really good neutral and this one, which has a lot of grey in it so it’s not too girly, looks great when teamed with shades of grey to give it a bit of edge.

I chose this rug by Charlotte Lancelot, as the starting point for my board. It costs £2,759 and measures 2m x 3m. It’s all hand sewn and there is a matching range of footstools and cushions. It’s from the GAN collection and I’d take pretty much any thing they’ve got. The white table below is by Nendo (who basically can’t have time to sleep these days) and I love that knitted grey ring stool in the bottom right. You’ll find everything else on the site with prices starting at £45 for that pink lantern.

Somehow it’s reassuring when a new shop opens to see some designers and makes that you’ve seen before. Makes you feel that this is a company that knows what it’s talking about when it comes to choosing stock.

For this classic monochrome image, I found a whole range of things to help recreate this look, although you will have to go elsewhere for the Arne Jacobsen floor light. There are, literally, hundreds of rugs to choose from so for God’s sake keep an eye on what you click on or you’ll never find it again.

This is a Berber by Gandia Blascao and is also hand-knotted. It also comes in a dark grey version and costs £1,244 for the large version (2m x 3m) – I can’t be bothered with small rugs. Either go large or don’t bother. Unless you buy small ones and layer them over each other in a Gaddafi tent style – looks great, terrible trip hazard.

The top left hand cushion is by Lucky Boy Sunday (who I have featured before) and you will also find pieces by Ella Doran and Lorna Syson there.

So next time it’s raining (in about five minutes) get yourself a cup of coffee and go for a browse. And to make it worth your while Woven have said that if you buy anything before the end of the month (30 June 2015) you can have 10 per cent off if you enter the code MAD10. How’s that for a cheering start to a Thursday?
