365 Objects Of Design #9: Lekue Silicon Cake Mould

Part of the Kitchen Essentials Series

Silicon moulds and utensils have really taken over our kitchen drawers in the last few years and I’m not a fan of all of it. This is different though. The silicon mould locks together with the little black clip so when your cake is done, you simply pull the clip out and “unwrap” your cake. In addition, the base is ceramic which means you have a built-in serving dish so there’s no need for any greasing, turning or panicking of any sort. Seeemples.

  1. This looks totally brilliant! I am personally something of a fan of my silicon loaf tin – it gets an awful lot of use, but this looks like it will take the cake (pun intended). Super practical, will give it a go!

    1. It is a really good idea. I’ve got the oblong one and it works really well. I particularly like the base so you never need to move it onto a plate and risk breaking it – although that might be my baking!
