Anthropologie and Elle Decoration

Today’s post has a little present for you at the end. No don’t all skip down there to see what it is, you can just sit down and read for a few minutes first. This evening I will be at the very fancy Anthropologie store on Regent’s Street to give a presentation on this years interiors trends on behalf of Elle Decoration. I know! Get me! I was very thrilled to be asked to do this by the editor, Michelle Ogundehin, as it’s not every day that interiors bloggers are recognised by interiors magazines. And then, well Anthropologie – there is a lot of lovely stuff in there. Not to mention the store itself which is beautiful and if you haven’t been you should go – a huge living wall and a whale in the basement. Yes really.

However, when I went to a meeting to discuss the event, I was told that everyone was thrilled as they had had over 400 RSVPs and were unable to take any more guests. What, I thought, is the point of that for all my lovely readers who perhaps didn’t know about it, or couldn’t get a place, or even – shock horror – don’t live in London? So here’s the present. And I’m sticking it in the middle so that those of you who cheated by skipping to the end will have to read through. HA!

The event is from 6.30 – 8.30pm at the store and, if you are passing it’s probably worth seeing if there’s a place as when things are free people often sign up and then don’t make it. During that two hour window you can shop online for a 15 per cent discount using the code ANTHROMAD. But it is only valid for those two hours so you will need to be quick. I reckon it’s a good excuse for a lunchtime browse and few minutes chucking everything in the basket and then go back and check out later on.

In the meantime the trends? Well I can’t tell you all of them as I won’t be revealing them until this evening – although there are clues in these images. There are nine in total. Michelle has been revealing some on her instagram and you will, of course, be able to follow the event via Instagram stories – make sure you are following ElleDecorationUK and to see the rest of the trends you can read the latest Elle Deco Trend Bulletin .

Oh the trends? Well the first, as you can see is plaster pink. Oh how I love this colour. It’s not sugary or barbie but has a hint of grey so that it will warm up a grey room – see every picture of my house ever – and is a little more edgy than blush. The second is Gorgeous Greens. That’s another colour that is everywhere at the moment whether it’s in plants – real or faux – or furniture. And it’s any shade of green as long as it’s not actual Greenery – that shockingly yellow green colour that was chosen by Pantone as its colour of the year. That’s best left to the trees in the park. In our homes we’re talking soft foresty greens and khakis. And I know this is coming because I’m suddenly adding lots of it to my wardrobe and where the clothes lead the cushions will follow. And, if you’re feeling really trendy then put those two colours together. Remember the fabulous Devol kitchen I featured a couple of weeks ago?

  1. Our first home was painted that greyed pinkish colour… and we were not planning on staying long so we ended up living with it for a good 8 years (and hating it the whole time) before moving out 14 years ago. I can never have it a home of mine again…

  2. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for an Urban Outfitters code – there was one available several days ago on the US site, and I was so crossed (sorry for the bad pun, couldn’t help it) that it didn’t apply for the UK…

  3. Sounds like a great event! Hope it goes really well 🙂 Now off for a browse of all the lovely things on Anthropologie’s site – like I need an excuse!

  4. Prices can be well pricey! BUT I was recently sourcing items and they have some amazing and really cute draw knobs at really good prices and their stuff is pretty cool, Trish x
