Black and White Rug

Yesterday I showed you a rather cool chair from Urban Outfitters and I wasn’t sure how many of you knew about the homewares section of this store. Today, we are looking at another place where I was surprised to see interesting pieces.

Some of you may be familiar with the French store Le Redoute, but did you know it also had a home section. I am indebted to Erica of The Edited for pointing this out to me as she has bought the black and white rug in the picture above.

It comes in either brown and ivory or black and white and three sizes starting at 120cm by 170cm for £65 and rising to 200cm by 290cm for £199. If you have long fancied one of these but can’t afford the real vintage thing, then this might be the answer. Also at the time of posting there appears to be 25 per cent off but if you come late to this and it isn’t there any more don’t blame me…

By the way, when I say it comes in black and white, I mean also white and black. Clearly. Tough call which is nicer. I mean one is clearly more practical,  although the 15yo has a black carpet in his bedroom which is full of white fluff and yet the white floors elsewhere in the house seem to attract only black dirt so it’s  perhaps a moot point which is better.

While wandering round this new treasure trove of stuff, I also found this geometric beauty below. It also comes in three sizes with the most expensive being £299 but it is wool so it will be warm underfoot and, crucially, it should be heavy enough to stay put even if you haven’t put furniture on top.

Do go for a lunch time virtual stroll if you want to see what else they have that might tickle your fancy.

  1. Definitely rug of the season! I tried to round up my top 10 rugs a couple of years ago and struggled to find 10 affordable rugs that I liked; now there are masses, which makes decorating a room so much easier. x

  2. I ordered the afaw rug from Laredoute after seeing your post Kate. It took an age to arrive but having got 40% off i’m not complaining. It’s lovely and I’ m thrilled to bits with it. Thanks so much for the heads up.

  3. I love vintage Beni Ourain rugs and was lucky enough to purchase one last month for our sitting room, it is amazing and I love it. Thanks for this post though as I think I have found another rug for my children’s landing that I have just finished decorating.
If you ever get chance I would love to read more about your dressing room that I adore.
    Take care!

  4. La Redoute have some great bed linen too, from really good value plain dyes, funky patterns and gorgeous pre-washed linen. They’ve got the linen in blush pink at the moment. Mmmmmm!

  5. I have been using la redoute interiors for years they are really good, also the am.pm part which I think now sadly is only available in France is amazing. They should relaunch it in the Uk, fingers crossed.

  6. It is lovely, but I think I am going to save up and go for wool (John Lewis’s not too dear) as I don’t want polypropylene , even recycled polypropylene 🙂

  7. I think you may have hit the jackpot with La Redoute. I just spent 20 mins ( I am on hols and not working) checking out their site and they have some seriously good furniture and well priced too. Thanks Kate.
