At the time of writing the clocks have gone forward and the weather has gone backward. There was a brief moment when it looked like Spring which, given that we had just moved into British Summer Time, wasn’t a moment too soon. Then the heavens opened and dropped about three days of rain before breakfast. And, at the time of writing, my weather app is predicting that will continue for the foreseeable future.
So I sit in my house and ponder my plants – both real and fake – and take comfort in the joy of flowers. Which must be real. I don’t know why that is – I’m perfectly happy to have fake plants – possibly happier as the current 50 per cent kill rate isn’t really affordable – but when it comes to flowers they must be real.
I have taken out a subscription to Freddie’s Flowers. They offer weekly delivery but I have chosen monthly. I pay for it but it’s an indulgence and one I may not keep for ever. However, for the moment, there is nothing like fresh flowers to cheer you up. Especially when the weather outside is frightful.
As are most of my vases. I saw this at Att Pynta the other day and rather loved it. And given that I am bad at putting things away, a vase that looks as good empty as it does full of flowers is a good thing in my book. It’s a tenner (plus delivery). Can’t argue with that. And it’s nearly Peony time – imagine how pretty their blousy pink faces will look in here.
Love that vase! Will definitely order one – mine are mainly chipped, and/or too wide necked. Thanks for featuring it, and yes peonies would look gorgeous in it. As for Easter, pah! I’m glad I’d bought a couple of bunches of daffs which helped offset the outside gloom. Today’s more like it though…
Yay! I just received my copy of your book today from Amazon UK. I couldn’t wait for the US publication! So far, I love it!
