French Connection Home Spring Summer 17

Right so January is nearly done. The drinks can come back out of the cupboard (mine did a week ago actually), the taxes have been paid and the new collections are coming into the stores so it’s time to dream a little – or even indulge ourselves.

The new collection from French Connection is as strong as we have come to expect with a grown up take on industrial style, mixed with a little modern rustic all in gorgeous muted shades of pink and gold with natural wood and marble.

I love all these cushions which would go perfectly in my house and at £35 for a 50cm x 50cm a couple of them may just find their way in. Two of the cushions on my sofa came free with the previous sofa, which makes them nearly 14 years old and, while I still love them, they are rather wearing away at the corners. Don’t you love it when you actually NEED something as opposed to just WANTING it?

Their rugs are always lovely but so too is the lighting. None of which I need. Sadly. Nor do I need a coffee table but that won’t stop me suggesting that you go and look if you do – in particular the Agra marble coffee table. There’s also a rectangular coffee bench table which is large enough for a couple of decorative books, a glass of wine and a pair of feet.

I have always wanted to do hang lamps at the of the sofa – rather than lamps on tables, if space is tight you can run a couple of cables from the central rose and hook them down to hang at either end of the sofa. This silvered bulb is their take on the industrial bare bulb look, which, I feel is coming to an end now. That is to say –  sculptural lights with lots of naked bulbs yes. A single bulb with an “effect” like this silver one yes, the bare naked single bulb or several hanging in a row? Over. At least I’m calling it now, it will probably take a year or so to filter out completely. This version below is a more grown up version and a little more sophisticated.

I will have a gripe and say that some of the chairs which have featured in previous collections and which are still in some of the lifestyle shots online- no longer seem to be in production, which is a shame as they were great shapes and would have suited so many homes, but the rest of the furniture is available and I would add it to your list of considerations.

Dry January is over. We can shop and drink with impunity – and, frankly, at the moment, whatever cheers you up is fair game at the moment. What do you think? Do we like?

  1. Oh delightful Temptress!
Love the pillows & cow-hide chair; it’s all rather calming.
But how does one achieve that finished look, of assorted lamps without the straggling cords? Any advice? Thank you?
    Cheers!

  2. Fabulous looking room, set off by the white painted brick wall. love the lamp above the chair and the rug..the only gripe is the coffee table…not sure about it…

  3. Some of those cushions would look fabulous on our grey day bed, but French Connection only sells clothing in Canada. Pity.

  4. I also love your blog, Kate. It’s your writing that makes it special for me, but I too am sooo ready for something new and this sure isn’t it.

  5. Some of those cushions look very appealing and all blend well together. I like it.
We still have an opening for another cushion when our new suite arrives. Although husband always says why do we need all those cushions, mind you he also says that about new towels. Lol.

  6. I love the look of FC range but have had such bad experiences with quality. I bought a chair that arrived stained and could not be assembled and I was just speaking to them last week about a cage light that was so badly designed (it stands on 3 thin legs but the screw attachments are so minimal that the pressure of the weight means That it continually fell apart to the point I am now chucking it). Oh and a gun metal looking side table that chips almost by looking at it.

  7. love your blog and looking at the lovely rooms! I am living in Denmark right now but moving back to the US soon and will use your inspiration to decorate my new home…

  8. Good Morning Kate – I always look forward to your brilliant blog but sorry to say I’m not impressed with this new FC collection. Just the same old same old – nothing is exciting me.
