Like many of you most of us I have a love/hate relationship with Anthropologie. I hate the prices, do, actually, quite love the stuff. Except for the dip-dyed log. That sends me into a fury every time I see it. Heaven knows what I would do if I went into someone’s house and they actually had one.
Anyway, logs aside, they do have some great furniture, only usually it’s far too expensive. It’s all a bit look don’t touch. Except that I was searching for a product that a client wanted to show me the other day and I came across this sofa. And it’s £1,600 which seems to me to be a good price for a sofa. Under £1000, it’s not going to last that long, might not be that comfortable, but, I think, for between £1,500 and £2,500 you can get a reasonably good sofa that’s well made that should go ten years and probably more. I say ten years with authority as my old one from sofaworkshop did 11 years and two toddlers but was rather dilapidated by the end. I could have recovered it and reupholstered it and carried on but the sad truth is that it would have cost about the same as it did to buy a new one.
So, with all those caveats in mind, take a look at the Grey Dhurrie Sofa from Anthropologie. I love the slightly distressed feel of the cover – perfect for those who tend to distress their own furniture quite quickly as soon as it’s installed – and it’s big enough for three, or two with their feet curled up. It comes in a green – just the dhurrie part not the arms and back and a blue. If it’s still there in nine years when my current sofa retires, this one is top of the list.
That dip-dyed log isn’t bad. I actually quite liked it. Has so much character. But wayyyyyy too overpriced.
What a beautiful sofa, the colour really works. Nice!
I adore the texture of this sofa! Amazing colour too. Even the legs are perfect!
